Oh, so they’re really gone

We knew they’d leave
That day crept so close
Yet somehow…
We stayed indifferent.

They’re gone, and our heart’s a void
We drift in space, bewildered
When they were near, a call brought them fast
A shoulder, an arm, their hair, their lips
Now silence answers us
Maybe just the clamor of life’s crowd, shoving past
No trace of their warmth to steady us

,,,,

P.S: Diary entry, day one.
